Clear Float Glass
Float glass is a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal, typically tin, although lead and various low melting point alloys were used in the past. This method gives the sheet uniform thickness and very flat surfaces. Modern windows are made from float glass.
Thickness Available
4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 15mm
Properties
:
- Uniform thickness
- Highly flat surface
Suggested Use
:
- Shop front
- Windows panels
- Interior furnishing
- Aquarium tanks
- Any applications that requires the basic properties of glass
Tinted / Colored Glass
Glass is available in a number of tints which absorb a portion of the solar heat and block daylight. Tinting changes the color of the glass and can increase visual privacy. The primary uses for tinted glass are reducing glare from the bright outdoors and reducing the amount of solar energy transmitted through the glass.
Tinted glazing retain their transparency from the inside, although the brightness of the outward view is reduced and the color is changed. The most common colors are neutral gray, bronze, and blue-green, which do not greatly alter the perceived color of the view and tend to blend well with other architectural colors.
Thickness Available
6mm, 8mm and 10mm
Properties
:
- Allows less light to pass through, offering more privacy.
- Versatile for decorative purposes.
Suggested Use
:
- Shop front
- Windows panels
- Interior furnishing
- Bedroom windows
- Private areas
Laminated Glass
From entrance doors and glass floors, to aquariums and display cases, laminated glass is the perfect safety solution. Two or more panes of glass are bonded together by a durable plastic inter layer, which enables the glass to strongly resist penetration by impacting objects. However, if it should break, the glass will tend to remain in its frame, minimizing the risk of injury from sharp edges and flying or falling glass particles.
Because of its strength and safety features, laminated glass is preferred.
Properties:
- Toughened glass is physically and thermally stronger than regular glass 4 to 5 times.
- tempered glass shatters into small oval-shaped pebbles instead of large glass shards that may cause severe injuries with its sharp edges.
Suggested Use:
- Shop front
- Public window structures
- Sliding doors
- Improved sound dampening properties.
- Blocks UV light
Low - Iron Crystal Glass
(Crystal Clear Glass)
Starlite low iron glass is specially made for exceptional clarity, and will not dull or distort the true colors in the color spectrum. Whether it’s referred to as “extra clear,” “water white” or “low iron,” the glass is made to be crystal clear and virtually tint-free.
What makes Starlite low iron glass so pure and sparkling? One of the main ingredients in all glass is silica sand, which has naturally occurring iron oxides. These oxides are what cause the greenish tint in glass. But Starlite low iron glass is made from a high grade of silica sand that is almost completely free of iron oxides. By reducing the iron content you reduce the greenish tint and increase light transmission, brightness and clarity.
Properties:
- Ultra clear and higher degree of transparency than ordinary glass.
- Eliminates colour distortion visible in ordinary glass.
Suggested Use:
- Shop front
- Aquarium tanks
- Aesthetic oriented glass jobs
- Glass applications where optimal clarity is desired.
- Framing of Pictures
Tempered Glass
Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (aka: annealed glass) creates. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.
As a result of its safety and strength, tempered glass is used in a variety of demanding applications, including passenger vehicle windows, shower doors, aquariums, architectural glass doors and tables, refrigerator trays, mobile phone screen protectors, bulletproof glass components, diving masks, and various types of plates and cookware.
*Any cutting or grinding must be done prior to tempering. Cutting, grinding, and sharp impacts after tempering will cause the glass to fracture.
This is one of the
important downside to using tempered glass is that it can't be reworked at all. Reworking the glass will create breaks and cracks. Remember safety glass really is tougher, but still requires caring while handling. T
he Tempered glass is much stronger & scratch resistant compared to normal glass.
Thickness Available
5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 15mm
Properties
:
- Toughened glass is physically and thermally stronger than regular glass 4 to 5times.
- tempered glass shatters into small oval-shaped pebbles instead of large glass shards that may cause severe injuries with its sharp edges.
Suggested Use
:
- Shop front
- Public window structures
- Sliding doors
- Partition walls
- Glass table and tabletops
- Shower screen
- Aquarium tanks
Non-Reflective Glass
Non-reflective glass are commonly used in picture framing. This because When you use reflective glass in a picture frame, most of the outside light transmits through to the artwork, and then reflects back through the glass and into your eyes, where your brain deciphers the colors and images. At certain angles, light reflects off the front surface of the glass just like a mirror, creating a spot of intense light that spoils our view of the art.
Thickness Available
2mm (for Picture Frame purpose) & 5mm (for Table Top Purpose)
Properties
:
- Reduction in the amount of light reflected from the outside surface of a framed glass panel.
Suggested Use
:
- Picture framing
- Table Tops
